DESCRIPTION
Restoration of Goodman Creek watershed through removal of fish passage barriers,
collapsed stringer bridges, toxic creosote pilings, and continuous invasive plant
treatment to encourage native plant growth. Ongoing restoration of the Goodman Creek
watershed has improved habitat and water quality for coho salmon and winter
steelhead. Ninety pieces of large wood additions increase cover and pool depth for juveniles
and retained gravel for adult spawning in 13 different sites. Removal of two stringer
bridges improve fish passage and eliminate the release of toxic creosote into the stream.
Treatment of invasive reed canary grass along the entire 14-mile length of the stream
channel keeps water cold, full of oxygen, and promotes growth of native trees and
shrubs on the stream banks.
