DESCRIPTION
The Entiat Riparian Project is located in the Entiat River Watershed, a tributary to the Columbia River. The project consisted of the restoration, enhancement, and protection of 4.2 acres and/or 5,675 linear feet (1.1 miles) of riparian habitat directly adjacent the Entiat River, by installing native riparian trees, shrubs, and native grasses (5 of 5 sites), livestock exclusion fencing (1 of 5 sites) and temporary irrigation systems (3 of 5 sites), and controlling of noxious weeds at all five sites.
Medsker Canyon is located between river miles 13.2 and 12.7.
Tyee Spring 1 is located between river miles 12.7 and 12.3.
Tyee Spring 2 is located between river miles 12.3 and 12.2.
RM 12 is located between river miles 12.2 and 12.1.
Mud Creek is located between river miles 12.0 and 11.8.
Complete site- specific assessments were conducted to identify limiting factors and determine the most appropriate course of restoration action; based on site needs, landowner willingness, and overall project goals.
Suitable native vegetation selection was determined by observing natural regeneration on site and or reference site(s) of similar characteristic (aspect, soil, etc.) with minimal land management impacts.
Other factors included, but were not limited to soil condition (nutrient degradation, moisture retention), noxious and invasive weeds, bank stability, stage of natural regeneration, current and historical land use, landowner limitation or needs, and ability to irrigate.
