DESCRIPTION

The Ecology surface water to wells conversion has provided alternative water sources, in the form of irrigation wells, for four surface water diversions in the lower Entiat River. Replacing the surface water diversions avoids fish entrainment and mortality, as well as providing water savings through higher delivery efficiencies. The conversions also keeps surface water in stream during low flow, peak irrigation use periods in late summer and fall.

In addition, funds from this project are being used to expedite the processing of pending surface-to wells point of diversion (POD) change applications in the Entiat River basin (WRIA 46) that were connected with habitat restoration efforts.
