DESCRIPTION
The 2010 Lower Entiat Riparian Restoration Project is located on the Entiat River, a tributary to the Columbia River. The purpose of the project was to restore, enhance, and protect 4.3 acres and/or 3,560 linear feet (0.65 miles) of riparian habitat directly adjacent the Entiat River. This project consisted of six seperate project sites in fall 2010. The projects are selected and designed to improve riparian habitat for salmonid species and mitigate water temperature exceedences in the Entiat River.
The Stormy Preserve Project is located on Chelan-Douglas Land Trust property between river miles 18.0-18.4. The project consisted of restoring up to 420 linear feet on the left bank and 250 linear feet on the lower right bank by planting 1.0 acres of the riparian zone community and 0.2 acres of the upland forest community (within riparian zone) with native trees and shrubs, respectively.
2011 Monitoring: As of 2011 the overall survival is 75%, deciduous growth was 4' and conifer growth 3,' shade increased 1%.
The Stillwater 2 Project is located on Chelan-Douglas Land Trust property between river miles 16.5-16.2. The project specifications consisted of restoring up to 1850 linear feet on the left bank potentially restoring 1.4 acres of the riparian designated area. However, access and terrain constraints, as well as areas of natural recovery restoration efforts limited the actual area of restoration to 500 linear feet for a total of 0.7 acres. Historical land uses included logging and pasture management contributed to several limiting factors.
2011 Monitoring: the overall survival is 80%, deciduous growth was 4', conifer growth n/a, and shade increse n/a.
The Stillwater 1 Project is located on Chelan-Douglas Land Trust property between river miles 16.2-16.1. The project consisted of restoring up to 250 linear feet on the left bank and 250 linear feet on the right bank by planting 0.4 acres of the riparian bank with native trees and shrubs.
2011 Monitoring: the overall survival is 70%, deciduous growth was 4', conifer growth n/a, and shade increase n/a.
The Mom and Me Project consisted of restoring up to 559 linear feet on the left bank by restoring 0.8 acres of the riparian zone with native trees and shrubs.
2011 Monitoring: the overall survival is 82%, deciduous growth was 5', conifer growth 2.5', and shade increased .02%.
The Olin Ranch Project consisted of restoring 175 linear feet on the left bank by planting 0.5 acres of the riparian zone and 0.2 acres of the upland forest community (within 35 buffer width) with native trees and shrubs.
2011 Monitoring: the overall survival is 85.7%, deciduous growth was 6', conifer growth 3.5', and shade increased .03%.
The Bortz Road Project consisted of restoring 1056 linear feet on the left bank by planting 0.6 acres of the riparian zone and 0.2 acres of the upland forest community (within 35 buffer width) with native trees and shrubs.
2011 Monitoring: the overal survival 75%, deciduous growth 3.5', Conife
