DESCRIPTION
Salmon restoration actions in the lower Samish River and estuary are currently not a salmon funding focus in WRIAs 3 and 4 until priorities shift to species in addition to native Chinook, or until out-migrating Skagit Chinook can access estuary rearing habitat in the Samish River estuary through the Swinomish Channel. Due to nearshore modifications at the southern end of the Swinomish Channel, salinity levels limit access to out-migrating juvenile Skagit Chinook. Refer to the McGlinn Causeway project in the Nearshore Rearing Habitat folder for more information on the issue and plans to resolve it.
The projects listed below either pre-date the funding focus on listed Chinook or support hatchery stock or other fish species as described.
