DESCRIPTION
The project site was a 6-foot diameter metal culvert located on Colony Creek that had been buried by coarse sediment during flood caused by a beaver dam failure. The build-up of debris at the crossing site blocked up and downstream fish passage. The blockage was removed by the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group in August 2010. The culvert was replaced by a bridge. Funding for the culvert removal was provided by the FFFPP program. Design work, construction of the bridge, and reconfiguration of the channel following construction was funded by the NRCS and the landowner (Goodyear Neslon Harwood Lumber Co.). he project opened approximately 0.6 miles of habitat for anadromous salmonids including coho salmon.
