DESCRIPTION
Columbia Street NE culvert is a total barrier, preventing fish from accessing all available habitat in the lengthy upper South Cowling watershed. The 7 ft. pipe was 'at grade' when first installed, but decades of erosion have undermined the downstream channel. South Cowling Creek widens again to approximately 8 feet average bankfull width coninuing upstream from the culvert crossing of Columbia Street NE. Note: turbidity in photo is caused by passage of surveyors; the stream was clear at time of survey. This project was identified by the Wild Fish Conservancy Water Typing Phase I Summary.
This project was identified by WFC in the phase I watertyping survey. (Stream MB01 - wpt 517)
