DESCRIPTION
This fish passage barrier was identified by the Wild Fish Conservancy Watertype Assessment Project Summary, West Sound Watersheds Phase I report as a restoration opportunity. This restoration project was presented to the WSWC Technical Advisory Group in the winter of 2013 and was prioritized based on benefit (high priority habitat features or processes, high priority geographic area, species affected, life history stage affected, reasonable cost per gain) and certainty (project is consistent with scientific methods, appropriate sequencing, addresses a high potential threat, and likelihood of willing landowners). The Suquamish Tribe currently uses the facility for education and outreach. 'Cowling Center' is dedicated to combining science & stewardship to conserve and restore Pacific salmon & steelhead populations and their habitats.
This project was identified in Wild Fish Conservancy's Phase I Watertyping Project summary.
