DESCRIPTION
This project was funded in the 2004 SRFB round along with the B. Little Quilcene Estuary Restoration (#03-03-005) and C. Donovan Creek Estuary Restoration (03-03-006).
The riparian planting phase of this project took place in Nov. & Dec. of 2008 after the channel work and dike removal for the above project was completed. The Jefferson County Conservation District (JCCD) developed and implemented the planting plan on behalf of the project sponsor Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group (HCSEG). Maintenance is being done through funds provided to the JCCD from HCSEG.
Site prep was done by Hydro-Tilling spots for planting. Then, 4.3 acres along the newly restored channel were planted with 1,860 trees and shrubs. Some of the planting was done by 4-H children, most of the planting was done by a private contractor.
Replanting was done in February of 2010 with a WA Conservation Corps (WCC) crew hired to implement the Summer Chum Riparian Restoration - East Jefferson (18-01) project. Tubing also occured in April, 2010.
