DESCRIPTION
Morganroth pond is a Forest Service developed fish passage project that has a failing fishway and degraded channel. The goal would be to replace the the fishway with a more permanent structure requiring less maintenance to provide fish passage to a large pond and upstream habitat.
The Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition (PCSC) and US Forest Service evaluated alternative solutions and developed a preliminary design that addresses the failing wooden embankment and fishway at the outlet of Morganroth Springs wetland. The preferred alternative and preliminary designs are oriented towards a more permanent solution that will restore natural condition and processes and requires no maintenance at the project location. This project is located in the Bogachiel watershed in Jefferson County, WA. The design is based off the preferred alternative of all stakeholders and will provide fish passage for all species and life-stages while also improving habitat condition for rearing juvenile Coho.
