Water conservation is a high priority for salmon recovery in the Walla Walla basin. Water savings from conservation are left in the river adding to summer instream flows. This project eliminated two gravel push-up dam diversions and consolidated the diversion point into one common pumping station in coordination with the Bergevin-Williams/Old Lowden piping project that eliminated the old earthen canal delivery system. This project reduced the number of diversion points from 2 to 1 and reduced the loss of summer base flow.
