DESCRIPTION
The Columbia Conservation District used this grant to provide cost-share funding to landowners who enrolled in WDFW's Voluntary Screen Compliance Program. The Touchet River watershed in Columbia County, WA, contains spawning and rearing reaches for steelhead and bull trout. The Screen Compliance Program includes assessing conditions of existing water diversions, identifying required upgrades, and installing appropriate screens. All screening requests received water rights approval from Washington Department of Ecology, and screens met WDFW, National Marine Fisheries Service, and US Fish and Wildlife Service requirements. This project installed 21 water diversion screens with flow meters in the Touchet River watershed.
