DESCRIPTION

Kittitas Conservation Trust proposes to complete Phase I of the Kachess River Restoration Project to improve spawning, rearing and migratory conditions for ESA listed bull trout. This project will focus on improving bull trout habitat in a 0.3-mile reach of Kachess River that dewaters annually. Restoration activities will include installation of large wood structures, excavating portions of the channel bed, and constructing bar roughness areas. Project designs are being developed as part of the Upper Kachess River Assessment (18-1428) funded with Yakima Basin Integrated Plan dollars. This restoration project is shaped by the best available science, historic data collected from past and current assessment work, and with input from technical experts and partners working on bull trout in the Yakima Basin.
