DESCRIPTION
BPA Contract 85957. Under this contract Chelan County Natural Resource Department (CCNRD) will develop 30% conceptual designs for Nason Creek RM 2.5-3.4. We will evaluate the mainstem channel, floodplain and floodplain channels, and other adjacent lands and develop conceptual designs that address process deficiencies to improve in-stream conditions and better connect the floodplain and historical side channels. We propose to complete all work necessary to identify and analyze alternative restoration methods and prepare conceptual designs for the preferred alternative. We will hire a contract engineer and will, among other tasks, compile and assess existing data; collect and assess site data (e.g., land survey, characterize in-stream and wetland habitats, etc.); develop models (e.g., hydraulic, habitat suitability, geomorphic gradeline relative elevation, etc.); identify opportunities and constraints; and prepare conceptual engineering designs based on these efforts. Lower Nason Creek has been identified as a priority HUC12 Watershed for restoration actions supporting recovery of spring Chinook, steelhead and bull trout. Restoration actions that are likely to be implemented are known to positively influence habitats that support priority life stages of these species including adult holding, spawning/incubation, and summer and winter juvenile rearing. Restoration elements included in this design project are a subcontract to re-vegetate a previous project area (BPA-P-76713).
