DESCRIPTION
The project is located on CDLT property adjacent to Nason river mile 2.3 and resulted in a perennial surface water connection to a 0.25 mile long relict oxbow. Pre-project, Nason Creek only activated this oxbow and the adjacent wetland with a surface water connection at the 25-year event. Construction included 1) excavation at the upstream and downstream end of the relict oxbow 2) placement of two in-stream log jams to increase flow activation at the upstream end and increase sediment flushing at the downstream end of the oxbow 3) placement of 24 habitat logs and 3 toe log structures within the oxbow 4) 0.15 acres of wetland rehabilitation , which included filling 125 linear feet of previously constructed ditches, de-compacting adjacent soils, and planting with native trees and shrubs 5) re-planting all work areas to achieve 7.5 ft. on center and 75% survival. This project was constructed in 2018 with implementation funding from BPA project #76713.
BPA Contract 76713. This project designed a perennial side channel re-connection near RM 2.3 on Nason Creek, just upstream of Lake Wenatchee. The site contains a relic oxbow and excavation at the upstream and downstream end will create a perennial connection to Nason Creek. The design will also included placement of two in-stream log jams to increase activation at the upstream end and increase sediment flushing at the downstream end of the connection. This phase of the project included permit submittal and final design. This project was constructed in 2018 with implementation funding from BPA.
