DESCRIPTION
This site was treated by the Chelan County Noxious Weed Board for Japanese knotweed from 2010-2014. The treatment was successful, but left a large riparian area denuded. The purpose of this project was to revegetate the treatment area with 348 native riparian species to address water quality concerns of high water temperature and a high width to depth ratio in the adjacent stream channel. The site is located in a functioning floodplain, and the plant additions should enhance floodplain function and provide shade and wood inputs into Peshastin Creek. The buffer width varies from 35-75 feet. The total area planted was 0.51 acre along 340' of streambank. The planting area borders Larson Creek, a tributary to Peshastin Creek. Parts of the planting area also buffer Peshastin Creek. The site may need to be treated for knotweed again, but should not require as aggressive of an approach
