DESCRIPTION
The Colville Tribes and the OID have developed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which annually leases a minimum of 700 acre feet of water dedicated to instream flow for 12 consecutive years. The Tribe and OID will manage this water to provide passage flows for adult migration and smolt outmigration from the diversion dam to the confluence (4.3 miles). In order to accomplish this goal, a low flow channel will be constructed from the OID diversion dam to the Okanogan River confluence to increase the duration of water flow. The reconnection of Salmon Creek will provide access to approximately 11 miles of quality habitat upstream of the OID diversion dam. The results of this long-term water lease program will authenticate production estimates, augment natural production and support in the recovery of the UCR summer steelhead in the Okanogan Basin.
