DESCRIPTION
The North Road culvert project replaced an existing 10 foot diameter partial fish passage barrier culvert with a bridge and natural stream channel to provide year-round passage to all fish species at all life stages. The project increases the spatial structure, abundance and productivity of listed Upper Columbia spring Chinook salmon and steelhead in the Wenatchee subbasin. The bridge facilitates the natural function of sediment and wood transport through the system. The project re-established migration corridor benefit Chinook, steelhead, resident redband rainbow trout, and re-introduced coho.
The SRFB funds are match to a larger project. The Chelan County Public Works Department replaced the North Road Culvert over Chumstick Creek, along with a portion of the North Road, from Chumstick Highway to Fox Road (MP 0.05 to MP 0.56). Only the goals, objectives and budget for the North Road Culvert were included in this proposal. The goals, objectives and costs for the rest of the road project are not included.
