DESCRIPTION
Spencer Island is named for John Spencer, who farmed here in the 1920's. The northern half of the 412 acres island is owned and managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The southern half is owned by Snohomish County and managed as a regional park. In 1994 dikes were first breached to restore tidal water to the area in the southern half of the island. In 2008, tidal influence was introduced on the northern end of the island.
