DESCRIPTION
Provide a setback levee on the left bank of the White River at RM 3.2. Remove approximately 1,905 linear feet of existing revetment located along the left bank of the White River between RM 3.2 and RM 3.5. A new armored levee of approximately 1,491 linear feet would be constructed and set back from the White River to the east, encompassing an area of approximately 400,070 square feet (9.2 acres). This levee setback would improve connectivity of the White River to side channels at the site. This particular site has been identified by the Pierce County Levee Setback Evaluation done in 2008 for WRIA 10/12; this location was identified as site number 28 of the 32 listed in the evaluation. This project ranked 3rd out of the six proposed setback levees in the study. The City of Sumner is in the same financial situation as many of the other municipalities right now and due to that fact we do not have the funds at this point to support moving the project forward but instead we have looked at the property and permitting for the project to be the area in which we can support the project as a whole.
