This project installed 5 engineered log jams on US Forest Service property near River mile 7. The project also removed >0.5mile section of an andandoned portion of Forest Road 70 from the floodplain. These five ELJs are large, incorporating 43 key pieces logs, 150 racking logs and 200cy of slash material. Each jams had immediatly provided complex pool habitat with overhead cover for salmonids in the watershed. These large mid channel jams were placed in stragetic locations to restore lateral migration of the river into historic floodplain channels. Shorly after project construction was finished the project reach experienced a bankfull event which activate one of two major floodplain channels. In January 2011, the project reach experienced a 25-50 year event instigating both vertical deposition of channel elevations and lateral movement of the river, reconnecting the current, incised mainstem channel to its historic floodplain. The project is function as designed to support floodplain processes and instream habtiat for salmonids.
