DESCRIPTION

This project acquired for permanent protection 150 acres and approximately 1.75 miles of shoreline property along the Mashel River in its Middle Reach. The property is located 1.3 miles upstream of Boxcar Canyon, in Pierce County near the Town of Eatonville. In addition to this SRFB acqusition, the applicant separately funded purchase of an adjoining 90 acres and approximately .75 miles of shoreline property. The property is forested with steep and unstable slopes leading down to the Mashel River. Matching funds, approximately 15% of the project cost, are through a grant from the Nisqually Indian Tribe.
