DESCRIPTION
The Nisqually Indian Tribe, with the endorsement of the Nisqually River Council, is proposing to use its WRIA support funding to employee a Salmon Restoration Volunteer Coordinator. This position will be housed in the Nisqually Natural Resources complex under the supervision of the Nisqually Tribe in close coordination with the Nisqually River Council. The position will be responsible for coordinating volunteer groups throughout the Basin to implement salmon restoration projects consistent with the Basin's salmon recovery efforts.
This person will also participate on an internal interdisciplinary team in the development, design, implementation, and monitoring of salmon restoration projects. Some staff time will also be dedicated to developing an effective public outreach campaign to communicate our salmon recovery efforts and educate the basin residents about the biological needs of salmon. This element will be performed in close connection with the Nisqually Environmental Project supported by the Nisqually River Council.
