DESCRIPTION

This project was originally a restoration partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) to replace 2 undersized culverts, at South Kingston Road and West Kingston Road. The SRFB grant was intended to cover the local match for the USACOE's Section 206 Restoration funding. Unfortunately the feasibility and designs for the project projected costs far beyond the original amount of the grant; and federal appropriation for the construction was never authorized. The project remained a high priority for the lead entity and the County, so the scope of work was altered to complete a set of construction plans for the South Kingston culvert. The construction plans and cost estimate were enough for Kitsap County to lobby for funds to complete this restoration, which was completed in 2012. (PRISM #10-1898)
