DESCRIPTION

The Skagit River System Cooperative (SRSC), in partnership with the Whidbey Camano Land Trust (WCLT), propose to use SRFB funds to conduct a restoration feasibility assessment and preliminary design for restoring the middle reach of Crescent Harbor Creek to a more natural sinuous alignment. The project, located just upstream of the West Crescent Harbor Road crossing, will take place on property recently purchased by WCLT for conservation and agricultural purposes. Currently, the stream is rerouted into an extensive ditch network running along the margins of the property, which has reduced floodplain connectivity and simplified instream habitat structure. Completed restoration at the site will restore fish access and a natural alignment to more than 5,000 LF of stream channel, will restore floodplain and wetland connectivity as well as instream complexity, and will enhance already-completed stream and salt marsh habitat restoration work downstream.
