Deception Pass State Park is a 4,185-acre marine and camping park located in both Skagit and Island Counties on Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands where Rugged cliffs drop to meet the turbulent waters of Deception Pass. The park is outstanding for breath-taking views, old-growth forests and abundant wildlife. This proposed acquisition includes three separate parcels, containing a total of 57 acres, including a 50-foot strip of waterfront land. The property is bounded on two sides (west and north) by the Hoypus Hill area of Deception Pass State Park. The property offers a trail head opportunity with connections to the existing trail system for use by hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. The acquisition also offers a key segment alternative to the Pacific Northwest Trail. Working in partnership with the Whidbey/ Camano Land Trust and Island County, the acquisition will be matched through the Island County Conservation Futures program.
