DESCRIPTION
Johnson Creek flows in a northeast direction from the foothills of the Olympic Mountains into the west side of Sequim Bay at Pitship Point. The Pitship Marsh complex is a small embayment, with a narrow spit forming across the tidal marsh. The marsh receives freshwater inputs via springs located along the western edge. Habitat changes of the Pitship Marsh complex from 1870 through 2005 were evaluated, and it was found that the tidal lagoon had been reduced by more than half and the tidal marsh area had been reduced by a quarter (S. Todd et al, 2006).
