DESCRIPTION
The Lower Dosewallips Floodplain and Estuary Restoration project is a continuation of a partnership between Washington State Parks and Wild Fish Conservancy that started in 2002. Over the last 14 years we have implemented a series of restoration actions in the Park mostly funded through three SRFB grants (2002, 2005, and 2011) with an ESRP grant in 2007.  The overall goal of all of the project work has been to increase floodplain and estuarine ecological processes in the lower Dosewallips River and Estuary. This has been accomplished through dike, revetment, and levee removal; ELJs and LWD placement; and invasive removal with native plantings. The proposed project would remove all of the remaining revetment and dike downstream of 101 on the Dosewallips River. It would also create a new distributary channel system in the area currently occupied by a park road and 20+ campsites.  Additionally the project would construct 3 additional ELJs, with LWD placement and native plantings.
