DESCRIPTION
In this project, Capitol Land Trust will conduct a site evaluation and prepare a preliminary restoration design for salmon habitat restoration of Capitol Land Trust's Shermer-Deschutes Preserve. This property consists of 22.05 acres with 1,900 feet of Deschutes River shoreline in Thurston County. Major habitat types include 17 acres of wetlands, a riparian corridor, forests, and an agricultural field within the floodplain. This preliminary project design would include plans for restoring the riparian corridor, wetlands and forests. The design will cover the need for removing invasive plant species, replanting with native vegetation and potential engineering options to add habitat for salmon within the preserve.
In this project, Capitol Land Trust conducted a site evaluation and prepared a preliminary restoration design and final restoration design for salmon habitat restoration of Capitol Land Trust's Shermer-Deschutes Preserve. This property consists of 22.05 acres with 1,900 feet of Deschutes River shoreline in Thurston County. Major habitat types include 17 acres of wetlands, a riparian corridor, forests, and an agricultural field within the floodplain. The restoration design includes plans for restoring the riparian corridor, wetlands and forests. The design also covered the need to remove invasive plant species, and replant with native vegetation. The design also explores the possibility of installing a high-water back-channel for salmon within the preserve.
