DESCRIPTION
The Spurgeon Creek Headwaters Restoration Design project seeks to restore a ditched reach back to it's historic wetland complex condition. Spurgeon Creek is the largest tributary to the Deschutes River in Thurston County - Watershed Resources Inventory Area 13. Off-channel and wetland habitat is important for rearing juvenile Coho and Cutthroat. The overarching goal of this design project is to improve fish survival within Spurgeon Creek by enhancing quality and quantity of in-stream, off-channel and wetland habitat. This creek has been identified in the Deschutes River Coho Salmon Biological Recovery Plan as important habitat for Coho, cutthroat and steelhead.
