DESCRIPTION
There is an earthen dam 2.8
miles upstream on Green Creek. The dam
was originally constructed for logging and use of steam donkeys. The dam is located on an old farm and was likely
used for farm activities. The dam is 20
feet high and spans 115 feet across.
There is a concrete box spillway that is 60 feet long and has a slope of
17.5%. This dam is a compete blockage to
fish and also stops the flow of sediment and woody debris upstream. Access was identified as one of the limiting
factors in WRIA 24 along with a lack of large woody debris (LWD). Riparian cover is minimal, especially on the
right bank side of the stream channel.
Some plantings have been done downstream of the dam, but upstream of the
dam there is little to no vegetation along the right bank. The goal of this project is to complete obtaining all Federal, State and County permits, then complete construction of the removal of the dam, grading the channel and installation of large woody debris.
