DESCRIPTION
This project advanced the reach-scale restoration designs and associated materials for two sub-basins to the Chehalis River: Newaukum River and Chehalis River South Fork. These designs helped advance the goals of the Aquatic Species Restoration Plan (ASRP), as well as worked to meet the needs of owners of properties where restoration was proposed to occur in the future. The engineering consultant (Inter-Fluve) collaborated with designated partners to develop designs that meet these multiple needs and assisted in coordinating and facilitating meetings necessary to work towards successful designs.
The overall goal of this work was to restore aquatic species through the development of restoration project designs. Work included conducting reach assessments, alternatives analysis & project prioritization, conceptual designs, preliminary designs, and final designs. Note that the Stillman Cr. EAR (S. Fork Chehalis sub-basin) was only advanced to draft preliminary designs under this agreement, while the S. Fork Newaukum R. EAR was advanced through final designs under this agreement. A subsequent agreement will support advancing the Stillman Cr. EAR through final designs. Priority species to be supported by restored habitat are Coho, Spring-run Chinook, and others as defined in the Aquatic Species Restoration Plan (ASRP).
Throughout the contract a number of scope and budget modifications where made, please refer to the periodic progress reports and the task detailed work plans and budgets for more detail.
