This fish passage project completed by Lewis County Public Works replaced an existing, undersized culvert with a fish passable structure. The project is located on a tributary to Bunker Creek which flows under Ceres Hill Road in Lewis County, WA. Bunker Creek is a tributary to the Chehalis River. The replaced culvert was estimated to be 33% passable due to its slope and outfall drop. The project provides unobstructed fish passage to habitat for Coho and cutthroat trout for 1.29 miles. Final costs for this project exceeded the proposed amount due to inflation of materials costs from the time of application to the time of implementation. This is because all but one supply source remained for project materials by the time purchases were made. The elimination of competition for materials inflated prices. The sponsor was able to cover all cost overages and did not request additional grant funds for the extra costs.
