Project Area 3 is identified in the Tucannon Conceptual Restoration as a high priority area for spawning and rearing spring Chinook and identified channel complexity and to a lesser extent floodplain connectivity.  In 2018, CTUIR partnered with WDFW to design and implement a large woody debris loading project to increase LWD volume within the 1.45 mile long reach.  The purpose was to increase river contact with the floodplain by reducing river flood capacity and increase channel power diversity through log jam placement.  In total ~350 trees and 300 tree tops were placed in channel using a helicopter in 2018.
