DESCRIPTION

The Riggs Road & Bennington-Huesby Pipelines were piped in 2002. The Riggs Road site is located on the GFID North Lateral and involved 6,900 feet of pipeline and saved 0.99 cfs or 443 gpm. The Bennington-Huesby site is off the upper (main) GFID canal and involved 4,600 feet of pipeline and saved 0.43 cfs or 192 gpm. WWCCD proposed and designed the project; contractor was Dunning Irrigation. Bonneville Power Administration provided a flows grant of $162,352.00. U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service purchased ramp flumes - 2 @ $750 = $1,500.00. WA Dept. of Ecology provided challenge funds equaling $38,000.00. WA Dept. of Fish & Wildlife provided stream flow monitoring. Tri-State Steelheaders provided maintenance of gauging stations. National Fish & Wildlife Foundation provided matching funds of $35,563.16. Washington Water Trust placed values on the saved water and put savings into trust. GFID worked with WWCCD to determine inefficient reaches to be piped. Total project cost = $236,415.16. This project was completed through the cooperation of a large group of local landowners and state and federal agencies.
