DESCRIPTION
Pine Creek originates in the mixed rangeland of on the western flanks of the Blue Mountains of NE Oregon before flowing into Washington and terminating in the Walla Walla River. The creek is designated as a Minor Spawning Area mSA for steelhead and encompasses the watershed from the confluence with the Walla Walla River up into the top of the drainage. The creek supports populations of wild Mid Columbia River ESU Steelhead .
Pine Creek has undergone habitat degradation from the removal of riparian trees, elevated water temperature, channel straightening, excess fine sediments and floodplain confinement. Limiting factors have not been identified for this stream due to lack of data at the time development for the recovery plan. To date few projects targeting salmon habitat restoration have been conducted in the basin.
