DESCRIPTION
Washington Department of Transportation installed two vortex rock weirs on the up river side of the new HWY 12 Bridge to maintain scour under the bridge to prevent bed load aggradations. The rock structures have created and maintained two large pools providing excellent winter and spring holding habitat for adult salmonids. Given the location in the watershed the pools likely provide rearing habitat for juvenile steelhead.
