DESCRIPTION
The Yakama Nation used this funding for the Trout Creek Fish Passage Improvement Project, which worked to eliminate passage obstruction and protect quality habitat in the Trout Creek watershed (55 sq. miles total). Installation of one bottomless arch culvert made available approximately 4.0 miles of quality spawning and rearing habitats to threatened steelhead and resident fish that is otherwise inaccessible. Preproject, spawning distribution was relegated to the lower three miles of Trout Creek. The Yakama Nation pursued Plan B as an alternative version of the orginal proposal to the Klickitat Technical Advisory Committee and Local Citizen Review Committee. Plan B facilitated passage in the upper Trout-Bear watershed by allowing funds to fix passage problems on a Yakama Nation owned road.
