DESCRIPTION
The Reed Diversion, located at stream mile 4 on Manastash Creek, is the last large fish passage barrier blocking access to more than 20 miles of high quality upstream habitat for Mid -Columbia summer steelhead. The Reed Diversion waters right are planned to be moved upstream to the already constructed "Consolidated Diversion". Those water rights will then be delivered to the places of use via a pipeline to be constructed in the fall and winter of 2013 jointly by the Kittitas County Conservation District and the US Bureau of Reclamation. A 60% design for removal and decommissioning of the Reed Diversion was completed in 2010, however back to back flood events occurred in 2012 changing conditions in the stream channel. A new design is necessary in order to remove the diversion in a way that provides fish passage and addresses instream conditions.
