DESCRIPTION
The Lower Teanaway River assessment is intended to identify and prioritize habitat restoration actions for salmonid species in this reach. The goals of the assessment are: Identify and address critical aquatic habitat impairments limiting the productivity of local salmonid populations. Protect and restore the dynamic landscape processes that support sustainable riparian and salmonid habitat. Coordinate efforts with local landowners, resource managers, and other stakeholders in order to establish collaborative efforts that contribute to the success of restoration strategies To achieve those goals, the assessment will consider the following objectives: Protect exis ting areas where high ecological integrity and natural ecosystem processes persist. Protect and restore floodplain function and reconnection, off -channel habitat, and channel migration processes where appropriate and identify long-term opportunities for enhancing these conditions. Restore natural sediment delivery processes by improving the adjacent road network, restoring natural floodplain connectivity, riparian health, natural bank erosion, and wood recruitment.
