DESCRIPTION
The Twisp Ponds site consists of five ponds and channels which provide high quality off-channel spawning and rearing habitat for ESA-listed spring Chinook and steelhead. The site includes four ponds that are connected by a free-flowing outlet channel, and one pond that is used by WDFW for acclimation and is isolated from the other ponds by a fish screen during these periods. The Twisp Ponds site provides about a mile of viable off-channel habitat for anadromous fishes, and offers opportunities for public outreach, education, and access. Overall, the reconnection and restoration of this off-channel habitat will improve the natural floodplain functions in the lower reach of the Twisp River and provide quality habitat for ESA-listed species in the river.
