DESCRIPTION
This project installed single engineered low stage rock weirs with large woody debris at three sites, and a log weir at one site, to provide plunge pool habitat, control bank erosion, increase complexity and develop a low flow channel (thalwag) in a channelized section of Mission Creek. These structures were installed to create both fish habitat and a location for surface water withdrawal for orchardists. The three rock weirs were destroyed during a high flow event in the sping of 2009. The CCD is currently proposing to replace the rock weirs with log weirs in 2011 (see HWS project 04-MSN-2011-00, Mission creek Log Weirs).
