DESCRIPTION
This project is a fish habitat enhancement project that is located at River Mile (RM) 24.7-24.9 of the Entiat River. The project consists of three smaller cover Engineered Log Structures (ELSs) and an extension of an ELS installed in 2012.
This project is a continuation of a project the Yakama Nation (YN) completed in 2012. The landowners at the time wanted to see how work that was completed in 2012 interacted with their respective properties prior to commencing with the work installed in 2017.
A total of three smaller cover structures were installed and an extension of an existing Engineered Log Structure (ELS) installed in 2012 referred to at structure #2. All structures are bank-based and keyed directly into the bank. No ferrous material was used in the 2017 installation unlike the cable used during 2012 installation. All logs for this installation were backfilled with native boulders and cobble. Fabric encapsulated soil lifts were installed along the face of each structure. Vertical snags were also installed using a vibrasonic implement for added stability and robustness.
All disturbed areas were planted with native vegetation upon project completion.
