Riverine habitat in the Chewuch River has been impacted by a number of historical and continuing land-use activities within the aquatic and riparian corridor. Agricultural production, residential development, road building, and dispersed camp sites have disconnected floodplains by riparian vegetation clearing, filling and grading, and bank armoring. These practices have altered stream channel morphology, riparian areas, floodplains, and the physical processes that create and maintain high quality habitat conditions.
