DESCRIPTION
The Twisp River Left Bank Complexity & Riparian Project was designed to address loss of channel complexity due to accelerated bank erosion caused by a lack of riparian vegetation and instream structure while minimizing work within the river channel. A riverbank was built approximately 25 feet back from the current location of the river channel. The location of the constructed riverbank was based on a radius of curvature similar to comparable reaches of the Twisp River. If channel migration continues to progress at the rate it has been, the river will erode to the constructed bank over the next 2-5 years. Riparian plantings were completed in this area as well. The time before the river erodes to the constructed bank will allow time for the riparian buffer to establish to a degree capable of slowing bank erosion to natural levels.
