DESCRIPTION

Lake Wenatchee Water Quality Monitoring began in 2008 amidst concerns by lakeshore residents that the ecology of the lake was changing. Thick mats of periphyton growth were observed and thought to be an indication of degrading lake health. A sampling program was developed to look into whether degrading water quality was contributing to these changes. Samples of algae, emergent aquatic plants, stormwater, and periphyton samples have been collected since 2009. Attached is a preliminary assessment of lake health and recommendations for future management/monitoring strategies.
