DESCRIPTION
The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust acquired this land to protect pristine wildlife habitat along the White River. This 57 acre property includes 0.6 miles of riverbank and is located between RM 3 & 4. The Wenatchee sockeye stock, one of only two remaining Columbia basin sockeye runs, spawns in White River. The river is also critical to maintaining an adfluvial bull trout population in the Wenatchee subbasin. Spring chinook and steelhead also use this section of the White River for spawning, rearing and migration. Approximately 85% of this property is in the flood plain. The land purchased in this project was very susceptible to development.
