DESCRIPTION
Successful implementation of salmon recovery efforts needs broad public support and involvement. To address this, the Wenatchee and Entiat Watershed Planning Unit and Habitat Subcommittee members, or Watershed Action Teams, are developing watershed outreach plans to inform and involve the public in improving watershed health. Members from the Entiat and Wenatchee Watershed Action Teams have been involved in outreach and education about watershed stewardship since prior to the development of the Watershed Management Plans. Summaries of historic and current outreach and education efforts are included in the documents field of this page. The Methow Restoration Council has recently developed an outreach and education communications plan that will be used as a template for the Wenatchee Watershed outreach plan (see attached draft). Stakeholders are currently working together to develop key messages for education and outreach efforts. This plan will also identify gaps in current outreach efforts and propose high priority actions to address those current gaps.
