DESCRIPTION
The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust acquired this land to protect pristine wildlife habitat along the White River. This 8.3 acre property contains critical wetlands in the White River floodplain. The Wenatchee sockeye stock, one of only two remaining Columbia basin sockeye runs, spawns in the White River. The river is also critical to maintaining an adfluvial bull trout population in the Wenatchee subbasin. Spring chinook and steelhead also use the White River for spawning, rearing and migration. All of this property is in the flood plain. The land purchased in this project was subject to development.
