DESCRIPTION
The project replaced two fish paassage barrier culverts on Freund Creek, a tributary to Chumstick Creek. The culverts are on private property and had been identified as barriers by WDFW and targeted for compliance enforcement. The Family Forestry Fish Passage Program, a DNR cost-share program funded through the state Recreation and Conservation Office, provides funds and support for private owners of non-commercial timbered land to voluntarily remedy fish passage barriers on their property. The lower culvert was replaced with a 40-foot span steel bridge and the upper culvert with an improved culvert.
